Wow.

I have successfully avoided blogging for just a few weeks shy of 4 months; it's a sad state of affairs, to be certain. However, I simply cannot avoid the lure of publishing my thoughts for the world (i.e., all my readers, i.e., one person) - they are bubbling up and begging to be written. (Hopefully this will go slightly better than the revival of The Four Horsemen, which lasted all of 2 days.) Regardless, I have a few topics I would like to write about, none of which I will be doing tonight.

However, I do think that I will start running a weekly feature of sorts - a set of... (more)

I know it's been quite a long time, but I just thought that this article was spectacular. It's the Boston Herald's editorial in which they endorse George W. Bush for reelection (yeah, you heard it right - Kerry's hometown paper endorsed Bush... of course, Bush's hometown paper endorsed Kerry, so I guess this just evens it out...).

I just thought that the article was very well written and pursuasive. So go read it.

A Brief Article... and a hiatus

Due to excessive amounts of schoolwork coupled with the demands of my job, The Last Word is going on a brief semi-hiatus. I'll update every week or two, but no more than that... I just have too much going on.

And now, for your reading pleasure, my column from the school paper that is coming out tomorrow. Lucky you - you get it a day early as a bonus for being a loyal reader.

For the inaugural run of the second and final year of The Last Word in The North Star, I decided that my limited space would best be used to discuss the alarming extremes that this political season... (more)

IMPORTANT:

CBS News finally plans to admit that it was well and truly snookered.

It's about time that they started listening to the dozens of experts that have come forward to discount the false documents. (Just as an interesting diversion, here is an interesting and informative graphic detailing the differences between the CBS documents and real documents.)

In other news, Drudge claimed on his radio show last night that a really big story will be breaking soon - apparently there has been a big conspiracy afoot to either assassinate or cause serious physical harm to the President.... (more)

The Official Handbook of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy

Yeah, I know I said Sunday, but I've been busy. Regardless, here it is - the first official entry to The Last Word Book Club: The Official Handbook of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, by Mark Smith.

This book is witty, easy to read, and well-rounded. By taking on nearly 30 different topics in one book, it doesn't counter any liberal myth in complete detail, but manages to find several good arguments for nearly every major issue in America today. The book's format - several subheads of "Liberal Lunacies" followed directly by a factual, common-sense rebuttal - makes it excellent for a... (more)

Forged documents, eh? CBS = FAILURE!

Surprise, surprise - the Democrats try another ploy to cast suspicion on the president's service during the Vietnam War, and it has backfired in a rather spectacular fashion.

So get this: CBS comes out with this big, groundbreaking story about how they've unearthed "private memoranda about Bush's service from an officer's personal files", and have it analyzed by some "experts" to make sure it is authentic, and then go on NATIONAL TELEVISION on 2 SEPARATE SHOWS to display it. However, as soon as someone has a real expert look at it, the truth comes out: it was made on a COMPUTER, and,... (more)

Muslims: Finally Making Some Sense?

Amazing as it is, this is the first time I have ever seen Muslims apologizing for acts of terror and brutality and condemning those who are distorting their religion into something that it is not. Here's a snippet from the article: " 'It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims,' Abdel Rahman al-Rashed, the general manager of the widely watched satellite television station Al Arabiya said in one of the most striking of these commentaries. " Did you catch that? "Almost all terrorists are...
More EUropean Idiocy

Well, the EU just took another step down Moron Street, with this claim that the European Union won the Olympics, with a grand total of 82 golds and over 280 medals. OK, I guess I can buy into the whole Continental Unity thing, and congratulating your close allies for doing well is totally fine, but then it goes a step further: "In 2008 I hope to see the teams in Beijing carry the flag of the European Union alongside their own national flag as a symbol of our unity."

What?! Prodi's grandiose dreams of a unified EU superstate are starting to interfere with reality. Has he no shame? Didn't... (more)
